Meet Your Trainer
Delivers Powerful, Practical Solutions
Julie R. Stokes
Speaker/Coach/Professional Development Facilitator
After working with teachers in their classrooms and teaching in an alternative school, my philosophy of teaching and learning is simple. I believe that students learn best in a safe environment where they are encouraged to share their ideas and they feel free to take risks and even fail as they make their own choices and have agency over their learning. I believe that this can only happen when teachers build a relationship with their students. Many of our students come to us with “baggage” and our subject matter is the last thing they are concerned with. Building relationships helps bridge the gap between what the students come to us with and how we need them to leave us. I also believe that this is not always easy. I acknowledge that teachers wear many hats- mom, dad, nurse, counselor, cheerleader, advisor, confidant, teacher- and the last thing teachers need is another program to follow.
I believe teachers need to be given research based, proven, practical strategies and applications they can start implementing immediately – without negating or losing any strategies that are working in their classrooms.
Parents send us the very best kids they have. And the kids they are sending us all come with different strengths, different needs, different cultures, different experiences and different abilities. Programs with a “one size fits all” approach do not work.
As educators, we know that many of our kids come to us not knowing how to socialize beyond video games and social media. In order to have a safe classroom where students are free to learn, we need to teach them how to effectively have face to face interactions.
I am dedicated to helping educators be successful. I use humor, stories, and a common-sense approach to motivate and inspire the teachers I work with. Most importantly, I leave educators with as many proven, practical strategies as I can.
My trainings are not simply theory based but are strategy driven. I promise it will be worthy of your time as I share resources- resources you can utilize in your classroom the very next day.
